Nature Nights

Looking for something fun to do in the next few weeks?

Every Wednesday night during the summer, the Oak Canyon Nature Center in Anaheim has a small hike and a show relating to their theme of the week! It takes place every Wednesday from June 20 to August 15.

Each evening begins with a twilight walk at 7:00 p.m., followed by a presentation at 7:30 p.m.

August 1: Spectacular Scat
Animals leave behind many types of clues for us to discover while out on the trails. Some clues can be smelly, slimy and gooey poop – that’s some spectacular scat! Join OC Parks’ Resource Specialist Kelley Brugmann as we become scat experts and examine the smelly side of what animals leave behind in our parks.

August 8: Wonders of Wildlife
Cheryl Rendes from Wonders of Wildlife will share a variety of animals, from the savannas of Africa to the tropical regions of South America.

August 15: Annual Flashlight Walk
While waiting for the sun to set, get an introduction to the “creatures of the night” then join Oak Canyon’s naturalists on a trek through the trails of the Nature Center. There will be several walks of varying abilities. Don’t forget your flashlight as we explore Oak Canyon at night!

Admission is free, but a $5 donation per family is suggested.

Our family has completed the Reptiles from Around the World and Orange County Birds of Prey.
